  Good morning. There’s a German salad called fleischsalat that I’ve mostly seen made with diced bologna, diced pickles, a lot of mayonnaise, some mustard, a splash of pickle juice and a spray of pepper. It’s great on pumpernickel. I once had a version made with ketchup in place of the mayo, and I sizzled it in a pan so the ketchup caramelized, and I ate that on toast, and it was excellent.

  Maybe one of those could be your no-recipe recipe tonight, if you have ham left over from Easter in the fridge or such a powerful urge to find out what happens when you fry meat in ketchup that you stop off at the market on the way home for a ham steak or a chub of bologna. (You can make a spread of the mayo version of fleischsalat by using a food processor in place of your knife, blitzing the meat into paste. It’s great on crackers.)

  That’s one idea for dinner, anyway. David Tanis has another, and it’s super-beautiful in addition to being delicious: a black rice bowl with bok choy and mushrooms (above), the whole thing kissed with ginger, garlic and sesame.

  Or how about Marsala-marinated chicken with roasted vegetables? Charlotte Druckman brought us the recipe to accompany her artful defense of the Sicilian fortified wine in The Times this week. Marsala brings to the food, she writes, “a kind of moreness, like a photo with an Instagram filter applied.”

  You could make Yotam Ottolenghi’s eggplant, lamb and yogurt casserole tonight, his loose interpretation of moussaka, easier and somehow more elegant than the original, and less of a gut-punch, too.

  Or you could make loco moco, off a recipe from Alana Kysar, who wrote the excellent “Aloha Kitchen: Recipes From Hawai‘i.” That’ll stick.

  As will Ali Slagle’s recipe for one-pot turmeric coconut rice with greens, a grain-forward version of Alison Roman’s #TheStew.

  Too much? Make Samin Nosrat’s recipe for the greenest green salad.

  Of course, you could just order pizza, and make Melissa Clark’s recipe for a tamarind cream pie while you’re waiting. Take that thing to work in the morning and hit it with some whipped cream in the break room? You’ll make partner. You’ll gain friends. You’ll make someone happy. Regardless, it’ll be a good feeling.
